Starting out in the 3k grit range I found with good control of mud it could get in the 6k range of polishing.

Another strong point of this stone was the ease of sharpening on both soft and hard steel. Often with natural stones a mud needs to be produced from the soft iron first which then can be used for the hard steel. But with this stone I could start on the hard steel.

Best used with little water to produce a thick fast cutting mud, but can be used with more water if desired.

Tested on both double and single bevel carbon steel blades as well as white 1 Honyaki and blue 1 Damascus. Performing easily in all
Overall a great versatile stone for both mid range polishing or as finishing stone as well as edge sharpening.
