In the 4k to 6k grit range possibly higher if worked over time to break down the slurry would produce a darker finish on the core steel \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis stone I found good at blending convex grinds on sanmai and or clad single bevel knives. \u003cbr\u003eThe soft mud easily makes this type of work smooth and easy. Can be followed with Kasumi powder mix to even out the surface for a more esthetic look. This Hideriyama I particularly liked for Honyaki it really whitened up the hamon area giving the hamon a rich color during final polishing.
