京町家での時間

場所は京都市東山区、築100年の古民家を改装しました。

少し畳が軋む居間、床の間。
日差しや風を感じられる縁側。

今もなお京都で昔の人々が受け継いできた面影を感じられます。

京都市内の住宅街の一角にある京町家。
人も車通りも少なく、聞こえてくるのは、葉が風でなびく音と鳥の声。
そして時折、包丁を研ぐ音。

季節ごとの光や風を感じながら、日本の伝統工藝品をゆっくりと手に取ってご覧いただけます。
The gallery is located in Higashiyama, Kyoto, in a renovated 100-year-old traditional townhouse.

Step inside to a slightly creaking tatami room and a tokonoma alcove, or enjoy the sunlight and breeze from the engawa veranda. Even today, one can still feel traces of the lives of those who lived in Kyoto long ago.

Nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood, the townhouse sees few people and little traffic. The sounds that fill the air are the rustling of leaves in the wind, the songs of birds, and occasionally, the sharpening of knives.

Within this serene setting, visitors can slowly explore and appreciate Japan’s traditional crafts, feeling the seasonal light and breeze as they do so.

  • 工藝品にふれる / Experience Japanese Crafts

    陶器のうつわや木工の工藝品。
    各地域ごとにある「陶器」の産地。
    自然サイクルを意識した、「樺細工品」。
    茅葺き屋根に使われた「煤竹の箸」など。

    Komonでは職人を訪れ、日本の豊かな自然の素材を感じられる工藝品をご用意しています。
    Ceramic tableware and wooden crafts.
    Pottery comes from regions across Japan.
    We also offer birchwood crafts and soot-stained bamboo chopsticks once used in thatched roofs.
    At Komon, we visit artisans directly and offer crafts that allow you to experience the richness of Japan’s natural materials.

  • 日本刀/Japanese Sword

    千年以上の歴史を持つ日本刀。
    その技は受け継がれ、現代でも日本の各地で制作されています。Komon Galleryでは、そんな現存の日本刀鍛治師の作品を展示・販売しています。
    人間国宝の河内國平氏の作品をはじめ、若手日本刀鍛治師の御刀も扱っております。
    Japanese swords have a history spanning over a thousand years. Their techniques have been passed down and are still practiced across Japan today.
    At Komon Gallery, we exhibit and sell works by contemporary swordsmiths. This includes pieces by master swordsmith Kunihira Kawachi, a Living National Treasure, as well as swords crafted by younger Japanese swordsmiths. You can view them in Komon Gallery and have them shipped internationally.

  • 砥石 / Japanese Sharpening Stone

    日本の刃物は、世界に誇る技術と歴史を持っています。
    その研ぎや研磨に欠かせない砥石も、Komonでは取り揃えています。

    本職の方に選ばれる、質の高い砥石だけをご用意しています。
    Japanese knives are renowned worldwide for their craftsmanship and history.
    At Komon, we also offer the sharpening stones essential for maintaining and polishing these blades.
    We provide only high-quality stones, carefully selected and trusted by professional craftsmen

  • 砥石の研ぎ試し/Stone Sharpening Test

    京都をはじめとする天然砥石や、包丁や工具の研ぎに使われる人造砥石など、職人でも選定が難しいものを厳選。
    特に天然砥石は選別が難しいとされていますが、ご購入の前に手に取り、実際に刃物を使って研ぎ試しいただけます。
    We carefully select sharpening stones, including natural stones from Kyoto and synthetic stones used for knives and tools, even those considered difficult to choose by professionals.

    Natural stones, in particular, are challenging to select, but you can handle them and try sharpening a blade before making a purchase.

和包丁 研ぎ直しのご依頼

Komonは日本の伝統工芸の中でも、日本の伝統的な刃物に注力しています。
和包丁は世界からみても、それぞれの用途に合わせた形状があること。そして砥石で研ぎ直すという考えは、自然やモノを敬い、大切にするという、日本ならではの文化を感じる思想です。
日本刀1000年の歴史を受け継ぎ、今日も作られている和包丁。見かけだけでない本物を伝えていく必要があると、昨今の状況を鑑みて、私たちは強く感じています。
私たちは、そのような思いを共にしてくださる日本の職人、または料理人を探しています。料理をさらに極めるために、大切な和包丁の研ぎを任せてくださる方。どうぞお気軽にお問い合わせください。
