Crafted from Tamahagane, the traditional high-carbon steel used in the forging of Japanese swords, each dog tag is made from the same raw plates used by swordsmiths in the early stages of blade creation. Each tag bears a unique Hamon (temper line with the clay)—the beautiful, wave-like pattern created during sword heat treatment with each smith's special recipe of the clay —and is engraved with the swordsmith's name as a mark of its origin.
