About Komon's Gallery Kyoto

Komon Gallery Kyoto is run by Yuka, the owner of Komon, and Ivan Fonseca, a kitchen knife sharpener. We are working in a renovated 100 year old house that has been turned into our workshop.

We have received requests from many people wanting to visit us. Since only two of us have to do a lot of work, we currently accept only Saturdays and Sundays and open only from 10AM to 4PM.

Since Komon Gallery Kyoto is mainly only our primary workshop, we do not have the same selection as a retail store, but we do sell some of Komon's products. And you can try and buy the NSK Kogyo stones that Ivan uses and the natural stones he selected. (Currently we do NOT offer any classes.)

We do NOT charge a fee for your visit. However, we do appreciate your support through purchasing something small for yourself or as a gift. Or let’s enjoy a conversation over coffee in our gallery, and it would be a delight if you brought some single-origin coffee from your town.

Located in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto, southeast of Kyoto station. There is no train or bus station nearby, and it is up a hill on a narrow path. To get there, we recommend walking or using a taxi. It takes about 15-20 minutes from Kyoto Station by Taxi. We will send you the address later.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. We are looking forward to meeting you.
