HOW TO USE EACH SLOT

Different areas of a knife require different types of adjustment. Each of the four grooves is designed for a specific purpose, allowing precise correction based on the location and nature of the distortion.

MADE IN JAPAN

CRAFTSMANSHIP 職人手仕上げ

Made from durable Japanese white oak, each groove is carefully chamfered to help prevent damage to the blade during use. Every piece is individually hand-finished by craftsmen with an oil and wax treatment.

素材には硬く耐久性に優れた白樫を使用。使用時に包丁を傷つけにくいよう、すべての溝の角を丁寧に面取りし、職人がひとつひとつオイルワックスで手仕上げしています。

ABOUT THE HIZUMITORIBO

The Hizumitoribo (Knife Straightening Stick), also known as a Kojibo, is a traditional tool used daily by craftsmen and knife sharpeners in Sakai, Osaka, Japan.

This Komon exclusive design builds upon the traditional form, incorporating refinements developed through years of professional sharpening experience. Based on years of sharpening and repair work, the depth and dimensions of each slot have been carefully adjusted to address a wider range of distortions in both single-bevel and double-bevel knives.

Even slight distortion can affect sharpening performance. Correcting distortion before sharpening is an essential part of professional knife sharpening in Japan.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION 重要事項

- Knife straightening carries a risk of chipping, cracking, or breaking the blade. If you are inexperienced, we strongly recommend consulting a knife store or sharpening specialist.
- Apply pressure gradually and check the blade frequently. Do NOT force the correction in a single attempt.
- Excessive force may cause damage to the blade. Honyaki knives, in particular, require extra caution due to their hardness and brittleness.
- When using the tip facing down, apply force with extreme care to avoid chipping or cracking.
- To help prevent scratches, place a soft cloth, such as a microfiber cloth, between the blade and the slot during use.
- We accept no responsibility for blade damage, including chipping or breakage, or for any injury resulting from the use of this product.
- This product is made from natural wood and finished by hand with oil. Variations in grain, color, and appearance are normal.
