OVERVIEW

This wakizashi is in the form of a sun-nobi tantō, conceived with reference to Nanbokuchō-period tantō.
While tantō typically exhibit almost no curvature, this blade has a slight sori of approximately 0.2 mm. The kasane is relatively thin and the mihaba is wide, resulting in an elongated and graceful sugata.

The hamon is based on gunome, forming a gently undulating and continuous pattern. The polish is in sashikomi style.
The jihada is primarily ko-itame, with areas of itame mixed in. Within the ji, suikage and bō-utsuri are visible, and ji-nie is densely present, described as forming thickly in a fine, granular manner, creating a refined and highly active surface.

The blade bears the carving “Manpō / Kiitsu” (万法/帰一), a Zen phrase expressing the idea that all things ultimately return to a single fundamental origin.

The carving is executed in a style inspired by tenkoku (seal engraving). Rather than being stamped, each character is individually carved. A patinating agent has been applied to the carved areas to induce controlled oxidation, producing a distinctive coloration reminiscent of an inked seal impression.
