These chopsticks have a beautiful sheen with a dark brown surface that's slightly lighter around the edges.

The speckled patterns in shades of dark brown and light beige are natural markings that developed over time when the Susudake bamboo was used as the framework for thatched roofs for several decades or even close to a hundred years. The irregular shapes and colors of these natural patterns are truly stunning.

After completing its job as a framework, the Susudake bamboo is carefully cleaned and sanitized, so hygiene is not a concern. The entire surface is also meticulously polished, allowing you to appreciate the unique character of the bamboo.
The striking Madara pattern runs from top to bottom, making it a perfect choice for those who seek individuality in their chopsticks.

These chopsticks have a slightly slim and firm feel, making them a good fit for those with smaller hands.

From the Heart of the Untouched Nature of Okuizumo
ORIGIN
Okuizumo Shimane Prefecture
Since BC 3000 the sunken hearth of thatched roof houses were used in the living area to cook food and warm Japanese homes. The smoke from the hearth slowly turns the bamboo framework a dark brown as well as drying and stabilizing over few hundred years of use.
By using the old bamboo from thatched roof houses which could end up as waste, Mr.Wakatsuki breathes new life into Susudake products instead of cutting fresh bamboo, helping to make a sustainable world, however thatched roof houses in japan are decreasing every year making the Susudake increasingly rare.
All Susudake Chopsticks come with Kiri wooden box
