INTERPRETATION OF THE STONE

A fine uchigumori with strong polishing strength that is a bit on the harder side. Being on the harder finer side it can give a bright color to soft iron without blurring the details as some softer Uchigumori can do.

A versatile stone that cuts well on all carbon steel. Excelling as a polishing stone to reveal fine detail in Tamahagane, Watetsu as well as folded wrought iron. Tested on Tamahagane Honyaki, Tanaka sanmai, Watetsu, Hitachi Honyaki, wrought iron as well as Wootz.

I felt it is in between jito and Hato. as it reacts differently to harder or softer steels. Best used with very little water to bring up a fine mud from the stone. Ease of use is normal, the stone takes a bit of time to get used to but once understood it reveals many possibilities for polishing.
