INTERPRETATION OF THE STONE
This was a very unique stone, especially the color a stone that I have rarely seen. A medium fine stone that is very easy to use producing a mud from the stone quite quickly.
This stone was tested on single and double beveled knives, but I found it really performed well on wrought iron and Damascus clad gyuto.
Depending on the direction of the scratch, pattern, lengthlengthwise or at an angle, the stone performed very different on single bevel knives sharpening at a slight angle, you could feel a bit of grab on the stone, but with the same knife, switching to lengthwise scratch pattern.
The stone felt extremely smooth and easy. On double bevel knives, especially wrought iron cladding this stone was a lot of fun to use and produced some beautiful detail in the soft iron with very good contrast.
The stone seemed to work best when the surface had a texture from a 600 Atoma plate using a little water to get the stone going.
A good stone overall for polishing and edge sharpening with good feedback and a fine finish.
