INTERPRETATION OF THE STONE

This Ohira Suita is such a nice stone, another stone that I should keep as it has all the characteristics I look for in a stone, fast cutting, strong polishing power, responsive with a very smooth feel during polishing.

Easily removes scratches from previous synthetic grits in the 2k-4k range. Easily Brings up a smooth thick dark slurry that aids in polishing. A large stone with good surface space, this stone worked extremely with all types of carbon steel and cladding types, as well as Honyaki and Wootz.

Easily produces a dark thick mud that gives nice contrast between hard steel and soft cladding, bringing out fine details in soft iron cladding and when the slurry is worked will texture and or grain of the steel can be seen.

As well as being an incredible stone for knives it worked very well in woodworking tools such as Kanna leaving a fine polish in the 8k+ range.

Overall a wonderful stone that brings a lot of happiness to those who polish and sharpen with natural stones.

Best suited for kitchen knives, single and double bevel iron clad, carbon steel, Kasumi finishing, polishing, edge sharpening and Japanese woodworking tools.
