OVERVIEW
OVERVIEW
This work by Yamano embodies his aesthetic with particular clarity, presenting an innovative interpretation within the tradition.
The blade exhibits a thick kasane and wide mihaba, giving it a powerful and voluminous presence.
The hamon is based on chōji-midare, with variations in height and spacing throughout. In places, elements reminiscent of jūka-chōji and hako-chōji can be observed.
The yakiba extends partially into the shinogi-ji showing strong characteristics of hitatsura.
Along the ha, nie are strongly present and the nioiguchi is clear and well-defined. Within the hamon, long, continuous inazuma are distinctly visible.
The well-matched hamon on both sides, combined with an underlying sense of subtle allure, recalls aspects of Muramasa, while clearly demonstrating an interpretation that goes beyond mere imitation.
While grounded in traditional elements, the work expands upon them, revealing Yamano’s distinctive aesthetic vision.
